Elena Bennett & Fred Barton

reservationsDine With Us.

ELENA BENNETT & FRED BARTON, the acclaimed singer-pianist duo, are Back in the Swing of Things! Reunited this past spring, Bennett & Barton have been making music and winning hearts around the renascent Gotham music scene, with regular appearances at the West Bank Café and the Townhouse, performing their uniquely varied and seemingly limitless song selections from the Golden Ages of Broadway, Hollywood, Radio, and beyond.

With Elena’s uniquely luxurious and expressive voice finding its perfect mate in pianist Fred’s ‘ten-fingered orchestra’ style on the keys, the duo’s rapport shines as they entertain with their trademark taste, intelligence, and humor.

The two met and spent years performing at the legendary Greenwich Village club Eighty-Eights, as well as Judy’s in Chelsea. Their New York success led to stints in Hollywood, Florida, Sydney, Australia (where Elena hosted the Sydney Cabaret Convention), and Vienna, Austria, just to name a few. Naturally, when Bennett executive produced and recorded her spectacular Big Band album, A Wrinkle in Swingtime, Barton was the only one she even considered working with as arranger, orchestrator, conductor, and co-producer.

The pair is thrilled to revisit their respective Boston roots.

Elena Bennett (“Forever Swing”, “Erik and the Snow Maidens”, “Bennett Sings Piaf!”), is not only descended from legendary inhabitants of Plymouth and Salem, but also grew up spending her summers on the Cape, frequenting Boston, Belmont, Newton, and Cambridge. (And Elena is a diehard Sox and Pats fan!)

A Lexington native and Harvard alumnus, this is a true homecoming for maestro Fred Barton, whose brilliant “Hasty Pudding” days were followed by his triumphant one-man show “Miss Gulch Returns” (at the Club Café!), the long-running ”Forbidden Broadway” at the Park Plaza’s Terrace Room, and his numerous orchestrations played by the Boston Pops Orchestra.

As they continue to bring music back to live audiences, in 2022 they plan to begin work on the sequel album to A Wrinkle in Swingtime – A Swiftly and Sweetly Swinging Planet.
