In Kelvyn Koning and Rebecca Wright’s new musical The Prince and the Painter, fantasy and mystery meet Jazz Age queerness and rebellion in a Balkan-inspired world. As the last dregs of his country’s magic drains away, a young artist comes into his own, grappling with the secrets he uncovers in the process. The music is a vivid blend of classic Broadway, jazz, and Balkan and Armenian folk music. Join composer/co-lyricist Kelvyn Koning and members of the cast of Moonbox Productions’ 2022 New Works Festival, Angele Maraj, Josephine Kraemer, Kenny Lee, and Steven Sawan for an evening of original musical theater songs and sneak peeks into the makings of the show.
