Rainbows and Stars with Katie LaMark

reservationsDine With Us.

It’s Pride Month and The Napoleon Room has created a new series called RAINBOW AND STARS celebrating our gay community and our allies. PRIDE PARTIES are interspersed throughout the June featuring and thanking many of our biggest fans for their support throughout the year. Tonight’s PRIDE PARTY is hosted by Katie LaMark who will be welcoming to the stage Beverly Beckham, Jim Keating and Elaine Woo for a trio of showcases. We will wind up the party with an open mic as we do every night at the Napoleon Room.

KATIE LAMARK started singing at an early age with her mother, Dottie, and her sister, Marion, accompanied by their father, pianist and arranger Tom LaMark. With an upbringing surrounded by music, she had the opportunity to perform at North Shore Music Theater and Scullers Jazz Club, and was featured with her sister on two albums recorded by Boston’s own Carol O’Shaughnessy.

Katie spent 13 years performing regionally in productions like Jesus Christ Superstar (Annas, ACT), Mamma Mia (ACT), The Wedding Singer (Holly, Gateway Playhouse) The Rocky Horror Show (Janet, FIP), and in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as The Narrator, starring opposite American Idol’s David Archuleta (Tuacahn Ampitheater). She also toured nationally and internationally, leading the 10th Anniversary Tour of Rock of Ages as Sherrie Christian, and the 20th Anniversary Tour of RENT as Maureen Johnson. Katie is thrilled to be back in Boston with her family and carry on the family tradition of music.

As a longtime Boston columnist, Beverly Beckham has spent years telling stories, capturing the joys and heartaches of simple, everyday moments. Beverly has continued the tradition of storytelling for many years in multiple cabarets, reviews, classes and workshops and her artistry is evident each time she takes the stage. You can find her most Wednesday nights at the Napoleon Room celebrating Broadway Hump Night. Beverly’s granddaughter Lucy is continuing in her grandmother’s footsteps and occasionally accompanies Beverly to the Napoleon Room to belt a song or two from her favorite musicals.

Jim Keating has been singing all his life. He’s a regular open mic singer in the Napoleon Room at Club Café. He has hosted the open mic at Tin Pan Alley in Provincetown. In New York, he has sung at Birdland and Don’t Tell Mama, and also at Tropics Grille in Fort Lauderdale. He’s performed at Provincetown CabaretFest every year since 2016. He served as President of Boston Association of cabaret Artists, Inc. from 2003-2007 and again from 2018 to present. For twenty years he sang with the Boston Gay Men’s chorus, performing at Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall, and Dvorak Hall in Prague, Czech Republic. He performed as part of Josephine’s Cabaret series twice. In early years, he performed in community theatre productions of Pippin, Guys and Dolls, Evita, La Cage Aux Folles, and Mame.

Elaine Woo is no stranger to the Napoleon Room. She retired from a lifetime as an MGH doctor-who-could-sing to become a singer who can answer your medical questions! On the way to the Napoleon Room she honed her skills at the side of the late great Bob Winter (the singing half of Winter and Woo!) and as a singer with Bo and Bill Winiker. She maintains that music -both making it and listening to it – is the ultimate antidote to whatever ails us.
