CABARET SPOTLIGHT hosted by GORDON MICHAELS with special guest SRIYA SURAPANENI.

Powerful is a word that most people would use to describe his smooth baritone voice. His delivery seems almost effortless and his stylistic range is diverse. He is comfortable performing Broadway ballads, Jazz standards, Blues, R&B Oldies, Gospel, and yes, even some Country. Some say it’s a rare treat for those lucky enough to attend one of his performances. He is a gregarious southern gentleman at heart and truly an entertainer that will leave you wanting more.

He has won many singing competitions throughout New England & New York and most recently the 2009 Boston Winner and 10 city finalist of the David Foster/Name Drop.com singing competition. His reputation as a premiere vocalist has led to performances with internationally known singers Patti Labelle, Jennifer Holiday, James Taylor, Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Cissy Houston, Keith Lockhart, Tramaine & Edward Hawkins, Natalie Cole, and special guest with Harlem Gospel Choir where is sang for Pope John Paul II.

SRIYA SURAPANENI, originally from Denver, Colorado, has relocated to Boston to pursue a Master’s degree in Biomedical Informatics at Harvard. With a lifelong passion for music, she began studying violin and piano at the age of three, later developing a strong interest in singing, including training in Indian classical vocal music from age six. During her college years, she sang in two acappella groups, holding leadership positions in one, which further instilled her appreciation for collaborative music-making. Currently, she is refining her vocal skills under Gordon’s guidance. Her preferred genres include musical theatre, pop, and ballads, with a particular fondness for narrative-driven songs. Music plays a significant role in her life, serving as a means of relaxation, social connection, and self-expression, and she welcomes opportunities to share her passion with others. She is grateful for this Boston music debut at Club Cafe.
