Rainbows and Stars with Gordon Michaels

reservationsDine With Us.

It’s Pride Month and The Napoleon Room has created a new series called RAINBOW AND STARS celebrating our gay community and our allies. PRIDE PARTIES are interspersed throughout June featuring and thanking many of our biggest fans for their support throughout the year. Tonight’s PRIDE PARTY is hosted by Gordon Michaels who will be welcoming to the stage Marilyn Dale, Jacob Mann and Bill Linehan for a trio of showcases. We will wind up the party with an open mic as we do every night at the Napoleon Room.

All the songs sung this evening will be written, composed, or performed by a Gay Icon, Gay-friendly Artists, or the LGBQT+ community. I have a list of gay icons and gay-friendly artists to choose from if you need help as a singer choosing your song selection – it’s like a who’s who of music royalty. You can reach Gordon through his FB page: facebook.com/gordon.michaels.984

Gordon Michaels’ voice has been described as a deeply personal expression of his soul. He began singing at the age 3, performing in his home church in the Bronx, NY. From this experience in the Tiny Tots Gospel Choir, he developed a passion for performing. He was recognized as an exceptional talent and accepted to New York City’s Music & Arts High School, the school that the movie “FAME” was based on. He went on to earn a scholarship to the Boston Conservatory of Music for Opera but switched his focus to Musical Theater where he felt more at home and graduated with his BFA in Musical Theatre.

In her early days, Marilyn Dale sang and danced her heart out in musical theater productions, including lead roles in Oliver, The Boy Friend, and Guys and Dolls. More recently, Marilyn has found cabaret settings to be a source of inspiration and creativity. Over the last 17 years, Marilyn has performed in many ensemble shows produced by Gordon Michaels. She has also appeared in productions at Club Café and other venues around Boston, as well as her hometown of Asbury Park NJ. During most weeks, Marilyn can be found singing a tune or two with her buddies in the Napoleon Room at Club Cafe.

Bill Linehan, a Massachusetts native, is a seasoned vocalist known for his broad repertoire spanning Broadway, jazz and popular music, his expansive vocal range, and his natural ability to connect with audiences. He has been featured with live musicians in solo performances and vocal collaborations in restaurants and small theaters throughout New England and South Florida. His theater credits include principal roles in Red Hot & Cole, Secret Garden, and Guys & Dolls. Bill is a regular in the Napoleon Room and is thrilled to appear in his first featured series at Club Café.

Raised singing in a Baptist church, Jacob Mann discovered his love of performance early, landing his first solo role in grade school as Peter Rabbit. Since then, he has sung the National Anthem at Fenway Park, released and performed original music with his rock band Red Ed and the Undead, and shared the stage with the great Gordon Michaels. He lives in Providence, Rhode Island with his two beloved cats.
