Songs My Father Taught Me: The Work of Edith Piaf in Retrospect
At an early age, Paul’s father introduced him to a variety of musical genres and artists by means of the Hi-Fi Stereo in the Living Room of the ranch house that Paul’s father built in the early 1950s in a small town in North Central Massachusetts. While musicals and selections from the American songbook were some of Paul’s early favorites, it was the music of Edith Piaf that became the foundation upon which a mostly unspoken yet deep bond was forged between father and son.
Nearly 45 years after the untimely death of Paul’s father at the age of 60, that bond remains vibrant and unbreakable by virtue of the personally emotional and powerfully expressive vocals of the French Chanteuse who was affectionately referred to as “The Little Sparrow” throughout her career.
